Well I believe it was because how the hell did the pants rip be fixed all the sudden. I think it was Boo. Well if I think it was boo then I think he does exist. I agree with you that he is no ghost. I think he is an alien from another world. Its hard to say who did. Yeah he did it, he carved them into soap and put the yarn there. Nice catch Zach. spelling bee medal, and an old pocket watch? Thats random. Why does cement have to be the reason. Why could it be an earthquake? Do you agree that would have been so much cooler. "Luckily Nathan is outside, but when he is asked by the kids why the tree is filled, his only reply is, "The tree is dying." Do you think the tree is actually dying? I honestly don't. I think he knew and is trying to keep Boo a secret or punish him or whatever he needs to do." [Zach Perry's words] I agree completely. I think that he might have something to do with it. I dont think the tree is dieing at all it was just a way to make the kid think of something else. How mighty do you think Boo is? I think he is mightily powerful but only shows it when it is necessary. This part of the book is very interesting. I think that it sounds just like one year on St. Patty's day. When I was younger I thought the leprechaun was real so I would imagine he out there. One year my mom put out gold candy(thinking it was real) and everyday in the month of March, I think a week away she would put gold everywhere. Similar to the boo putting watches and gold metals there on the knothole.

Title: Compare

This is the final post.  Yes.  Final.  This post will primarily focus on my personal favorite book out of the two.  Huck Finn was a good book, it had adventures obviously and I liked the idea of finding and hiding money alot.  This was good, however, this book honestly bored me.  It was slow, and didn't really ever catch my attention.  To Kill a Mockingbird however enthralled me.  At the very beginning, in fact the first half of the book completely bored me.  It was ridiculous.  Then around the lady who's lawn they messed up, and to repay her would read to her, is where it got interesting.  My absolute favorite part of the book though was the end.  I feel that the author just kind of said "how can I fit the most action possible in the least amount of time?"  I think that a very good job was done on this task and I really appreciated this.  Okay Dennis, what was your favorite book?  Why is that?  Do you agree that Huck Finn was kind of boring?  Knowing you I would assume you thought that To Kill a Mockingbird was boring because you seem to like stories that build on top of itself that make a good story, while I just enjoy mindless violence to entertain me.  I guess you could say mind of a teenage boy in our generation, but who cares?  I enjoy it.

Title: Ending with a bang

Wow.  Wow is all I can say for the ending.  Usually the endings to books are boring and conclusive, however this book left me craving more.  It threw in so much action with no conclusion, causing us to have no closure on what really happened.  So let's back track for a second.  Bob Ewell, from the earlier chapters, is quite angry with Atticus for going against him on the trial.  How does he try to get Atticus back?  Through his children.  It is late at night and the children are walking back from the school due to the fact that there was a play that Scout was in.  Don't you find it funny that a third grader was just walking home so late at night?  Back when I was in third grade I couldn't even walk down the street nonetheless all of the way to school late at night.  Anyways they are getting close to home then they swear they hear shuffling behind them.  They keep stopping and looking back until out of nowhere they are attacked.  They hear a ripping noise and grunting, then all of the sudden a scream with a gurgling noise.  Jem has a broken arm, but neither of them are severely injured otherwise.  Everyone is upstairs in Jem's room taking care of him when all of the sudden everyone realizes what happened.  Scout turns around and sees a pale man with fair hair, and a pinched looking face.  Who could this be?  The famed Boo radley of course!  I knew he existed!  That was my major closure.  What about you?

Title: Hitler's Advocate

Jem and Scout are both becoming older, and school is starting again.  Since they are becoming older they are no longer scared by the Radley house however they both badly wish to see Boo just once.  I still think that he exists honestly, do you?  Also I feel that only Scout really believes that he still exists.  I mean, honestly, Jem is getting older and he never really seems too happy about anything.  As I said school recently started, and Scout is now in third grade.  One day in school, her teacher, Miss Gates, lectures the class on the wickedness of Hitler’s persecution of the Jews, and how it completely undermines democratic ideals and equality.  The ironic thing however, as Scout points out, is that she can't preach about equality when she came out of the courthouse after the trial and told Miss Stephanie Crawford that it was about time that someone taught the blacks in town a lesson.  Do you find it ironic how she can talk so much about democracy and equality when she herself was talking about the blacks being taught a lesson?  I also find it humorous because that is how SO many people are today, two faced and opinionated.  I know I'm kind of doing it now, because I have opinions on things and I also have flaws myself.  Do you agree Dennis?  BETTER NOT!!!!  Just kidding of course.

I actually remember my first two days of Kindergarten since I did it 2 years in a row. I remember my first year meeting Patrick, Julian, Wyatt, Jim, Justin, Brian, and so many other people. I got in trouble for having a food fight during lunch. I remeber hanging on the play ground of my second year of Kindergarten and this girl pushing me against the fence trying to kiss me and then she slugged me in the stomach. I eat lunch right before so she made me throw up. I will always remember because it deep in my mind. My first year i had a kindergarten crush the 2nd day of school and it lasted all till 2nd or 3rd grade then I started to like more than 1 girl. It was pretty cute at the time. Wow that is dumb. Hating on someone because they already are educated before school starts. She should have given her brownie-points. But not in that society. Miss Caroline is a B****(sorry for my language) Making kids pay the teacher back for lunch. He didn't have one for crying out loud and hes poor. Now to answer your question, well to be honest I think the teacher would have to be ruthless and non-caring to actually see a student not eat lunch. True dat man.(bad grammar I'm aware) Forcing is bad. I agree with you totally, so over all you summed her up a a B and very odd.

Teacher's back then are way different to now. They do care about you, there are programs to help the poor get food, and there is no forcing. Now a days, they are always angels.

Title: Man, oh man

The Kids all decide to go to the courtroom to see how their father is doing.  They can't find a seat anywhere, and since they are just kids, they decide to sit in the colored balcony.  I found this as both a bold, but necessary statement that they made.  The time in which this book is based is when racism is still accepted.  The reason this is a bold yet necessary statement is because of the fact that there is a white lawyer representing a place defendant, and white children with the black audience.  It is impressive I personally think, what do you think about it?  Do you think this is good, or do you think it will just create more controversy later in the story?  I think that once they reach a verdict that it won't matter any more, but we'll see.  The jury later goes out of the court to make their verdict, which is when Atticus tells the children to go home and eat supper.  They want to stay to see the verdict, but Atticus, knowing what the verdict will be and knowing it will be stated before they get back, says they must go eat supper.  The children rush home, eat supper and rush back, and the courtroom is still filled.  They made it in time!  I was honestly happy for the kids to be able to see the final verdict, did you feel the same?  Sadly though, the jury comes back around 11:00 p.m. and gives a guilty verdict.  The children are absolutely devastated, however I personally was not suprised.  I expected this due to the fact that racism is accepted, with an all white jury and a black defendant, this really means that there is no way for the defendant to win.

Title: Trial

Atticus is Tom Robinson's lawyer.  Let's back up a little bit.  Tom Robinson is an african american man who is accused of rape.  He is accused of raping Mayella Ewel, who is the daughter to a semi-racist family.  Bob Ewell, the father, testifies that he was coming in from the forest carrying some wood when he hears his daughter scream.  He then proceeded to run indoors to see his daughter being raped by none other that Tome Robinson.  I find this story a little fishy due to the fact that Tom is black, and the Ewells ar a slightly racist family.  If this was a white male that they accused it would seem alot more normal, however since they have racist backgrounds, thus making them take any chance to bring the african americans down.  Tom Robinson simply says that he didn't do it and doesn't know why he is being framed like this.  Do you think that he is being framed Dennis?  I think that they are lying due to the fact that they didn't call a doctor, and that Mayella's bruises aren't in the right location.  Tom Robinson is a left handed man, which would cause a majority of the bruises to be on the right side, however they are mostly on the left.

Title: Aunt Alexandria... Buh Buh Buh BAHHH

Well, Aunt Alexandria is quite a character to say the least.  She is ridiculously snooby, and I think that she is probably more of a burden than a help to the children.  She came to straighten them up, and also make Scout more "lady-like."  Aunt Alexandria recieves a very warm welcome from Maycomb by getting cakes and other baked goods from various women in the community.  I actually can compare this to my own, because at my Mom's house it is a very secluded neighborhood, but we are always giving eachother stuff.  For example my mom loves to bake, so she will normally bake cakes and what not to give to the neighbors, while they will give us fresh vegetables from their garden.  Does anything like that happen with your family Dennis?  Well, Aunt Alexandria really appreciates this, however this does not stop her from causing mayhem within the Finch family.  She is proud to be a Finch and tries to teach Jem and Scout why they should be too.  One thing I think Aunt Alexandria doesn't understand is that Jem and Scout are proud to be part of the Finch family, however they just don't act like a "normal Finch."  I find this unfair, because if Aunt Alexandria was a truly good family member, then she would accept anyone from the family for who they are.  Do you agree with that Dennis?  I find the whole "acceptance" thing an issue due to the fact that my step-dad's family can be quite judgemental, and I came into the family through marriage, not by birth.  It's tough to feel not accepted, but we all overcome these issues and in the end I'm sure it will work out for the children in the story.

Title: Re to "freeing the freed slave" and Mississippi River

I am so confused about this question. Please explain. For the second question on the other hand, I would treat him like a king. I think I would give 40$ to Jim because he totally deserves it for what he has been through. I think that since he was busy and friends need help sometimes through any situation. If I gave him 40$ than i think good things would happen to me. Like when Earl was in the hospital and Carson Daily told him about Karma. Karma is If you do good things, good things will happen, If you do bad things, bad things will happen. Simple logic! Oh Hell yeah man having a bullet around your neck would be so freaking awesome. I would totally do it. Well for the most part yes very much but if I found out someone died. I would cry and feel bad. On the other point of that, I would disagree about being the greatest day of my life except for the $$$. I would be so proud, happy and excited. If you think about it, if you add up all the money that is with in the book, there is over 1million $. Thats a lot back then. Do you agree?

The Mississippi Riva. While reading the book, the River is totally symbolized freedom. If they were to get on there, they could go to so many places. I wish I could float down the river on a raft and canoe and go fishing. Wouldn't that be super fun and adventurous.

Title: Siblings of the Mending pants

On the way home from school one day, Jem's torn pants are magically repaired and hung over the fence between their yard and the Radley's.  This makes them wonder how it happened, and really interests them while something later catches their eye.  In the knothole of a tree on the edge of the radley property line, there is a knot of yarn in this knothole.  This seems odd, and Nathan Radley, who is a major scruge all year round, would obviously not have done this.  Do you think it could have been Boo?  Do you think Boo even exists?  I think that he is real, however I don't think he is a ghost.  Maybe he could be some sort of slave of Nathan's?  What do you think he is if you think he exists?  And if he does do you think that he put the yarn in the knot hole?  Maybe this next fact will help you decide.  After they take the string another day they see two figures carved out of soap in the knot hole with some gum.  This seems weird enough, however these figures oddly resemble Jem and Scout.  These presents keep coming with  a spelling bee medal, and an old pocket watch.  This seems amazing to Jem and Scout until some day in the late fall as they are walking home from school as usual, the knot hole is suddenly filled and sealed with cement.  Luckily Nathan is outside, but when he is asked by the kids why the tree is filled, his only reply is, "The tree is dying."  Do you think the tree is actually dying?  I honestly don't.  I think he knew and is trying to keep Boo a secret or punish him or whatever he needs to do.

Title: Teacher Problems

That wonderful first day of school, meeting new students, getting to know your teacher, and most importantly for Scout, seeing what school is like because it is her first time going ever.  Do you remember your first day ever Dennis?  I remember getting in trouble because someone took my book so I punched him in the stomach.  I didn't like Kindergarten much and neither does Scout.  Scout's teacher, Miss Caroline, isn't the "ideal" teacher, or at least the one that she imagined.  Miss Caroline is, well, the kind of person who likes to be depended on.  The first sign of this that I saw is at the very start, where she gets very angry at Scout for Atticus, their father, teaching her how to read before school.  Can you believe it?!  Angry at a student for being educated!  Hmm, seems a little odd to me but let's keep reading.  Later on a fellow student, Walker Cunningham, who belonges to a poor family, doesn't have lunch, so Miss Caroline offers him a quarter for lunch and he can pay her back tomorrow.  This is normal, I mean, what kind of Kindergarten teacher will just see a student not eat lunch?  The problem is, he is too poor to be able to pay her back, so he tries to decline it.  Miss Caroline keeps going on about how he needs to take it even though Scout chimes in to say that he really can't repay her.  If a student says that he cannot pay you back, and then another student explains to you how poor he is, you could either buy him a lunch to seem like the hero, or stop trying to force him to take the quarter.  You aren't needed that badly, so stop acting as such.  I know I went off on a rant about Miss Caroline and those types of people, but I mean do you agree with me?  She seems a little bit odd to me.

Title: Freeing the freed slave.

Huck and Tom are talking then Huck asks tom what he is going to do when he frees the already freed Jim.  This is where the title comes from "freeing the freed slave" due to the fact they are freeing someone who has already been freed.  Tom says he is going to make Jim a hero, giving him a marching band parade, and make him treated like a king.  What really happened though, is he told Aunt Polly what happened, then she immediately unchained him and had him fed and treated like a king.  If you were Tom would you keep the attention on you?  Or would you try to make Jim be freed and fed and treated like a king?  Also when Jim gets out Tom gives him 40 dollars for his troubles.  Would you give Jim the 40 dollars for his troubles or count eachother even for helping him get out of there?  I personally would give him the 40 dollars due to the fact that he went through alot and I believe in helping people, at least to get back on their feet.  Tom also now wears the bullet that was in his leg around his neck, which I would totally do too.  Could you imagine how much cooler you would be being able to say you were shot, and still have the bullet?  Finally they all realise that the corpse that they saw earlier was probably pap, so he most likely hasn't found the money yet.  This would be a great feeling because, pap is dead, Jim is free, everything is going right, and you get a lot of bonus money for free.  This would honestly be the greatest day of my life for me.  Would you agree?

Title:The real Wilks'

 

In chapter 28 Huck finds Mary Jane crying because she thinks that the slave family is still broken up however Huck knows differently.  He tries to tell her the truth however he has a hard time doing this under pressure.  Would you have just told her the truth Dennis?  Or would you have sugar coted it to make her feel better?  Next he gives her a note telling her where the $6000, and then leaves her to never see her again.  He doesn't ever see her but thinks about her every single day.  Next there is an auction going on to auction off the family's belongings, as planned.  The twist however, is that a mob then interrupts the auction with an interesting suprise.  Among the mob are two men who claim to be the real Harvey and William Wilks.  This is insane because they are supposed to be dead!  This made me think back when Huck dressed up as a girl, Sarah Williams, and talked to people about his murder.  Could they be the real Harvey and William Wilks?  If so could they have secretly interacted with Huck in the past without him knowing?  What would you do if people think that you are dead but you aren't?  Would you make it known or just accept it?

Title: Mark Twain and the book

I wanted to go on a different path this time around instead of talking about the boring chapter (only some). So far are you liking the book? What is your favorite part? I know mine was when Huck tricked Jim on the raft. I thought it was pretty cleaver and funny. I laughed for a while. It was as I said in a later post, pretty relate-able to my life. If you were to compare yourself with all the characters we have ran into, i.e. Huck, Jim, Tom, Pap, Granderfords and the Wilks Family. Out of the list there, how many characters do you relate to? How so?. I would relate to Huck because I'm adventurous, I would relate to Jim because I'm clever, Tom; I'm an out doors kinda guy. Those are a couple of the character that relate to me.

I found out something very interesting about the different illustrations of the two covers that London and New York perspectives of it. If you were to draw the cover page what would it look like? Tell me why you would draw it that way. Would it be colorful? Would the picture be of Huck or the whole gang?

Now Zach are you learning from the book? For example, if you were to rob something, would you hid it in a coffin or take it and run? The chapter with the fog, I would love to learn how to navigate through the fog wouldn't you? How would you do it?

Title: Sneaky thief but not really.(chap:25-27)

First finding the 6000$ stealthily, then deciding it to hid it in the coffin of Peter Wilks's. Huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck.  Comeon man.  That was so dumb, however shifting the blame was about the only good thing besides finding the money.  If I was in that situation I would have just stowed it in some sort of a dying tree, or in one of those knots.  Nobody ever looks in those knots, and if you can remember the tree if it is deep in the forest even better. I, as you said, would most likely end up with the money in this scenario. 

 If I just randomly found 6,000 it would be similar to finding all of that gold for me.  I would store most of it away to be built with interest, however keep some to pay off debts and maybe buy myself something nice.  If the family didn't find it and Huck gets it back I think he is just going to blow it all on stupid things such as some overpriced pair of shoes, or extremely expensive food. 

 I agree that this part could be turned into a movie, because what was going through my mind is what if this money was set out by someone similar to Huck, for their family to find, but he got there first.  It would make a humurous movie if both sides kept recovering the money, but thinking it is just a different stack of cash and they're just the luckiest person in the world.

Title: Bring a gat

 I honestly thought that chapter 18 was kind of funny.  I'm  one who doesn't really take things too seriously when it is from a book and that is why I found it funny.  The two families that were fighting were two just fine families, but were in a feud.  It actually reminded me of gang violence when the little kid was trying to kill the other family, because they always have the young ones and the new to the gang people do all of the "dirty work."  If this was happening in the real world and I was somehow involved it would be alot more scary, however I'm reading the fictional story of two families fighting.

  About one of the people dying being the young boy, I'm the type who doesn't think wow that is messed up that a child died, I think more along the lines of "Well maybe if he wasn't holding a sign that said 'you all suck' on the other family's property he wouldn't have gotten shot." I'm not super religious either, however I thought it was fine if they wanted to bring their guns.  Church is a place for peace, however you still have to make sure that you are safe, so if the other family starts to shoot, you have the means to defend yourself.

The letter that Sophia got I think is when the "major fight" is going to go down. I don't think that Huck could stop the fight though because it was going on before he even got there, so he means less than winning that battle.  I also think he would be in danger due to the fact that he would be seen as one of the Grangerfords so the others would be after that. I wouldn't want to fight, however I wouldn't leave as if I just saw my own mother die in front of me if I heard about a couple of people dying.

Title: Prankie-Prank-Prankster
In chapter 15, Huck and Jim finally made it to the Ohio River!  One problem, they get seperated in the fog.  No biggie though, because they get caught up again, however Huck with the upper hand now.  Huck played a simple yet hilarious joke on Jim.  When Jim woke up Huck acted as if it was all a dream, causing Jim to think his dream was symbolic and empowering, however his "power-high" quickly runs out when he sees some debris the Huck had left behind on accident.

 You say you could relate to this part of the book due to the fact that your brother likes to play pranks on you and you the same on him.  I can't really relate because I have three step-siblings in their mid-20's, and one step sister who is nineteen.  I enjoyed pranking her however it was normally dumb stuff like the new thing which is to turtle backpacks.  It's completely ridiculous but its more about being able to pull it off rather than actually pranking the person.  Actually the only real "prank" I remember playing on my sister is she asked me to get her some water, so I got some straight from my dog's drinking bowl.

I would probably react the same as Jim if I was pranked, and do the same thing if I was huck.

Title: Transvestite? Nope, just plain fun

 Sarah Williams, is well, Huck.  Huck needed a way out of things and his ingeneosity showed where he was able to successfully act like a girl with nobody suspecting him.  As you said it was to gain iformation to be able to escape, which is what he did.  However I think he also did it to have some fun as well I mean, it would be kind of fun to pretend to be a girl and see what kind of ridiculous stuff you could say and see how people react.

 You later went on to say that you don't think that you could dress like a girl due to embarassment and the fact that you would laugh when you said "hookerville." I think, however I would be able to do that. I would have the time of my life just doing "non-lady like" things such as burping under my breath or pushing people around just to get a reaction. You know me and how I enjoy doing things like this just to see how people react, well, it really is a blast.  I would keep the entire name, because both Sarah and Williams are pretty normal names that are just one in the crowd, so nobody would expect anything. I think Sarah Williams would actually fit in this time period still due to the fact there are ton's of Sarahs in the world, and also many Williams, well just like Venus and Serena. You said you wouldn't be able to say "Hookerville" or be near when they talk about your murder, however I would enjoy doing both.  Hookerville is funny and I might chuckle, but again, this goes under the "getting a reaction" category that I love oh so much.  Also I think it would be interesting to see what people really thought about me.  The only problem is I don't think I can pull off fully sounding like a girl though.  But if I couldn't dress up as a girl, I would tear up my clothes and look legitimately lost so people would help me out of there, and just ask for the information along the way.

Title: Sneaky thief but not really.(chap:25-27)

Huck, Huck, Huck, can you be that dumb? First finding the 6000$ stealthily, great job. Then deciding it to hid it in the coffin of Peter Wilks's. Smart move but risky. Finally not getting to the coffin in time to snag the money. Although I give you credit for blaming it on the slaves. What would you do in this situation? Where would have you stowed the cash? Knowing you Zach, your decisioning would be much quicker and more official and you would get the money in the end.

Did the money go to the family? Did they find it? Those are two questions that went through Huck's mind. Well if they didn't find out, they will have 6000$ in the coffin waiting to be found. How would you respond to it if you found it? How would you feel realizing 6000$ was buried with you? Similar to another question I had, If you were to retrieve the money, what would you do with it?

To be honest, the event that happened in these chapter kinda sounded like a set up plan to receive the money. $6,000 back then was a lot. Couldn't you see this section turned into a small movie? If you connected this event to a movie which one would it be if any? I believe Huck is a thief by traveler by day and on his off day, hes a petty, yet smart thief. Huck is very cleaver except when he doesn't think and is to hasty.

Title: Family feud and it's not the T.V. game show.

I think that chapter 18 is my favorite chapter due to all the action and suspense it has in it. Now you might think it's weird of me but I disagree. Huck was on the Grangerford's property is gigantic with many slaves. They family is warmhearted and welcomes Huck. Sounds like my family (except with all the slaves of course) The youngest child in the family, Buck tries to shoot a member of the Shepherdson family but missed. Huck is curious (as would I) on why he was shooting at Harney. The reason of the shooting, was because the two families were in a big feud. Now as I read this, I thought how did it start? Why and whats the point of all the fighting? Do you have an opinion on this point Zach? If so what is it?

When I read that two people had died and one of them was a fourteen year old Grangerford I felt bad and I thought it was messed up. On the other hand, the part when they were in mass both families would have there rifles in between their knees. I found that very disturbing although I'm not very religious. And on top of that the preacher was talking about brotherly love. (No irony there)

The letter that Sophia got, why do you think it means half past two? Do you think thats when the ultimate showdown would happen? Do you think if Huck was there, do you think he could stop the fight? Do you think, that he would be in danger if he had gone to it? If you were Huck and you found out that that two Grangerford boys were dead from a gun fight, what would you do? Would you leave as disturbed as Huck was? Would you leave too?

P.S. This post would have been for chapter 18-20 but 18 was more intriguing to talk about.

Title: Funny or not?

In chapter 15, Huck and Jim reached their goal. They had reached the Ohio river. Jim and Huck get separated during the foggy night. Huck in the canoe and Jim in the raft. Since the fog was super thick, Huck lost his sense of direction but eventually caught up with him again. When Huck found Jim, he was asleep. When Jim woke up, Huck played with him and made him think it was all a dream. Jim told Huck about the dream of the fog and how it was a obstacle he faced on the raft. for Jim's skills, he noticed all the debris, dirt and tree branches that was collect while he was adrift. Jim didn't find it amusing at all

While reading this part of the book, I found it pretty funny and super similar. It reminded me of my brother and I. We both would play tricks on one another. These jokes sometimes would be caught because of something that was left behind. Just like the debris that was found by Jim. For example, My brother on April fools day dyed the milk yellow and he had spilled the yellow dye on the counter. I noticed the yellow dye on the counter and when I saw the milk, I knew my brother had done something to it. I hated how my milk was yellow because I like it normal but no harm done to me.

If you were Jim, how would you respond to the joke? If you were Huck, would you do the same joke or change it up? If so, what would you do? Do you play jokes on any body that is related to Huck and Jim?

Title: "The Cabin" "Being very sneaky"

In Chapter 6, as you said, Pap kidnaps Huck and brings him to a cabin. You also said that Huck tried to saw his way out when Pap was gone, which actually makes a lot of sense.  I agree with you that I would put up the best fight possible to make sure I don't get kidnapped, however I disagree with you on threatening him with a saw.  If he was able to overpower me once, what's to say he can't do it again?  I would actually wait for either pap to leave for a while, or for pap to get drunk and later pass out before sawing my way out.  This causes Pap to not know where you went due to the fact he didn't release you.  If you went to pap with a saw and said let me go, he would either take the saw, or he would drop you off somewhere and have an idea where you are.  I would want him to have no idea where I am.  And I believe if he was drunk and found out I had left, he would try to chase me down in the moment, thus losing his way in the woods and not knowing where he is when he sobers up.

In Chapter 7 Huck planned on tricking Pap by faking his death, as you said.  His ideas were good in the moment, but were slightly flawed in the long run.  To fake his own death, there would be more reason to not have axe marks all over the door, so I wouldn't have done that.  Also with the pigs throat being slit, I agree with the Idea, however there really was a lot of splatter, and it was kind of messy.  Luckily though, these flaws did not matter due to the fact that pop was out of it as you said, so he really did not have a clue it was faked.  You asked a question what would have happened without the boat, but what I think is since he was able to fake his death and do all of the necessary escape procedures, I think he could have made one from tree bark, or anything that he could have.

Title: "Why am I banned?"

Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain is, well in short terms, slightly raunchy.  What I mean by this is that when it was written it was socially acceptable to say things like "the N word" or use certain slang words that are now offensive today.  I personally believe that this book is a good book to be banned from elementary and maybe even middle school, but not high schools today.  My reasoning behind this is because, well maybe not at AHS, but at high school just walking down the hall you will most likely hear most if not all of those slang words, and possibly even come across some bullying.  It still isn't necessarily "socially acceptable" however most teenagers today are used to the what was deemed "offensive content" inside of the book.  As you said the kids in the book found 12,000 pieces of gold, and split it 50-50.  You also said that you would take it all and asked if I would do the same.  I, personally, would not do the same due to the fact that they both found it.  If I came across it alone, you bet that it would all be mine, however the only real way to be able to take it all without an argument is to kill the other who was with you.  Plus if we do a little math, we can assume that each gold piece was near an ounce, and an ounce of gold sells for about $1,550.  So these 12,000 pieces in current USD is about $18,600,000.  If you both are in poverty having over 9 million dollars is more than enough.  So if I was in that situation I would put 8 million in the bank, and then have 1 million to survive on for the next year and maybe get a new house or something to help my family.
